According to the Environmental Legislation of the Province of Chubut, (Law Nº 4032), the Environmental Impact Research (EIR) had to be carried out for this singular work. This research, which involves every work of particular scale in the whole provincial territory, is for analizing posible impacts or effects, positives or negatives, that those works can generate in the environment or in the community.

The Environmental Impact Research, was presented in Public Audience on September 18th 2001in the “Salón Auditórium de la Sociedad Italiana de Puerto Madryn”. The urban and visual impact researches were included in the analysis, two factors that are rarely contemplated in this kind of works even though, they have a significative importance for analizing them. The main subjects in the EIR were: the incidence of the work on the environment, the socioeconomic background, the urban background and the visual background before the work, during the construction process and also when it is functioning. These researches showed a positive balance about the work.
